Frequently Asked Questions
How are my searches saved?
We store a cookie on your computer that contains a unique id. We use this id to recognize your computer. All of your searches are associated with this id. As long as this cookie exists we can display your saved searches.
Cookies! I've heard bad things about those. Aren't they dangerous?
A cookie is just a tiny file on your computer that can contain arbitrary text. This text is controlled by the website you're visiting. HarrisonburgHomes.com is only storing an id number, and that id number is only associated with your search history. No other personal information is associated with that id number. The only danger is that someone could use your computer to see your search parameters. If this is a concern you can mitigate this risk by not saving your searches, or clearing your history (see below). We will never store anything in this cookie of a private or personal nature.
How do I clear my search history?
On the recent searches page, just click 'clear history,' or just clear it now.
I'm on a public computer, I don't want to save my searches.
If you don't want to save your searches, just leave the Name this search field empty.
How long are my searches saved?
The cookie on your computer will exist for 30 days unless you delete it manually.
If I run a saved search will new properties be listed?
Absolutely, when you save a search, we save your search parameters and not the search results (list of properties.) When you run a saved search we use the saved paramters to re-query all properties, even ones that were listed after you last used the search.
